Whilst you need administrative access to install the old MSI installer for GoToMeeting. You can however install the ActiveX control in Internet Explorer which allows you to access meetigns in a browser.

Citrix have built the new version of GoToMeeting carefully so it doesn’t require elevated priviledges to install, making deployment in business environments easier. You may need to exlucde the core GoToMeeting executables from your firewall restrictions. You may also need to add the following filenames to AppLocker:
g2mcoreinsextractor.exe, g2minsthigh.exe, g2m.exe, gtm_download.exe, appcore.exe

Bandwidth usage partly depends upon the number of meeting participants, unless IP multicasting is enabled on your network. Multicasting allows you to send data once, and it is then replicated further down the network. You can set the screen bit-color, though the default 24-bit colour depth allows high quality imaging and transfer over relatively low bandwidth networks.
It’s important to notice the difference between latency and bandwidth here – bandwidth determines the amount of data that can be setn at once, latency the time it takes to get there.

How Good is the GoToMeeting Blackberry App?

There are some great iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android GoToMeeting clients, but so far Blackberry isn’t supported on the whole. Blackberry Playbook support is something that Citrix are looking at. Citrix have already built Citrix Receiver for the Playbook, so hopefully a GoToMeeting blackberry app will be forthcoming. You might be able to get gotomeeting to work through a java or browser client on a blackberry.
If you desperately need blackberry support, Fuze or WebEx may be worth a look.

The idea assumes that everyone should be able to clearly see the people they are talking too, without ridiculously expensive hardware or video systems. You can share up to six high quality videos in each session.

To join a meeting with GoToMeeting just visit the join meeting link, or visit GoToMeeting.com and enter the meeting ID.

It can suck if you want to download a piece of software but have to enter your information and register in order to get it. As GoToMeeting is a service as well as software you will have to register, though you can get GoToMeeting without a credit card.
